Professor Steve Kempster

Professor Steve Kempster is Emeritus Professor of Leadership Learning and Development at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). Steve first qualified as a chartered surveyor and founded his own surveying practice specialising in residential and commercial development. His second career commenced with a position at Lancaster University to help form the entrepreneurship group in the Management School.

He has published broadly on leadership learning, leadership of purpose and responsible leadership with 5 books, and many articles and chapters. Steve leads the Good Dividends project (www.gooddividends.com) – formed from an interdisciplinary group of academics drawn from 5 universities in Europe and Australasia – with the objective of enabling business leaders to develop their business models towards becoming regenerative and realising good growth. The ideas of the project were published in his book ‘Good Dividends: Responsible leadership of business purpose’.

Recently, Steve has been the Director of the Lancaster University Made Smarter and Evolve Digital programmes linking digitalisation with regenerative outcomes – funded by the UK Government. He is currently co-director of the Lancaster University ‘Good Growth’ Programme – focused on reframing growth towards regenerative outcomes and building towards a wellbeing economy. Steve is a member of the Anchor Organisations Procurement Group for the Morecambe Bay area helping to shape policy and intervention to build community wealth.

Dr Stewart Barnes

Dr Stewart Barnes is founder and CEO of QuoLux which is a B Corp Certified, privately owned company which specialises in leadership and strategic development working closely with small-medium businesses (SMBs) to improve their productivity, profitability and develop their purpose.

Stewart has over thirty years’ experience of leading, growing and developing a variety of private businesses in different markets in different countries transforming organisations and their performance. Stewart has worked with Steve for a decade integrating Good Dividends into the QuoLux LEAD, GOLD, GAIN and LEADlight in-person programmes for owner-managers of SMBs. Stewart has worked with his fellow directors, Rachael Ramos and Jo Draper, and Simon Townsend to create an extensive range of online courses, How-To resources and digital tools for organisations across the globe. He is a Board director and trusted advisor to a number of SMBs.

Stewart has a PhD on reflection and learning of SMB owner-managers from the University of Gloucestershire where he is a Visiting Fellow and has an MBA with Distinction from Lancaster University Management School. Stewart has many publications on his key areas of interest – leadership, transformational change, employee engagement, innovation and business planning.

Simon Townsend MBA BSc(Hons)

Simon Townsend is a seasoned IT professional with a passion for leveraging technology to drive business success. Simon is Head of Digital Transformation at QuoLux, and specialises in designing and developing innovative digital tools.

Simon's early fascination with computers, coupled with a first-class Computer Science degree from the University of Manchester, laid the foundation for his career. Subsequent roles as a business analyst, software developer, project manager, marketing manager, customer services manager and production planning manager, combined with an MBA from Lancaster University, equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both IT and business operations. With a proven track record in delivering successful IT projects for multinational companies, Simon brings a wealth of experience to his role.
